Santa Barbara gives you two December weekends worth a drive. On Friday, December 4, 2026 at 6:30pm, the Downtown Holiday Parade returns to State Street for the first time since 2019, starting at the Arlington Theatre and heading down State Street (route listed as Sola to Cota). Then on Sunday, December 13, the waterfront hosts the 40th Parade of Lights (theme: Hawaiian Holiday): a paddle parade at 2pm, a Winter Wonderland with Santa and 10 tons of snow on the City Pier from 3 to 5pm, about 30 lit boats at 5:30pm, and short fireworks off West Beach around 7pm. Both are free.

Pick your base
- For the State Street parade (Dec 4): stay downtown so you can walk out, grab a curb spot, and walk back.
